چکیده

Ultra-wideband (UWB) is a useful radio technique for sharing frequency bands between radio systems. It uses very short pulses to spread spectrum. However, there is a potential for interference between systems using the same frequency bands at close range. In some regulatory systems, interference detection and avoidance (DAA) techniques are required to prevent interference with existing radio systems. In this paper, the effect of interference on orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) signals from pulsebased UWB is discussed, and an interference mitigation technique is proposed. This technique focuses on the pulse repetition cycle of UWB. The pulse repetition interval is set the same or half the period of the OFDM symbol excluding the guard interval to mitigate interference. These proposals are also made for direct sequence (DS)-UWB. Bit error rate (BER) performance is illustrated through both simulation and theoretical approximations.

Paper Title (use style: paper title)

Ultra Wideband (UWB) is an attractive technique that enables coexistence with other radio systems using very short pulses and spread spectrum. However there are potential interferences each other if UWB and other radio system are used same frequency band at close range. This paper discusses interference detection and mitigation techniques for pulse based UWB (p-UWB). A multi-carrier template wa...

Wavelet-based spectral shaping of UWB radio signal for multisystem coexistence

Although Ultra Wide Band (UWB) wireless systems supposed to coexist with other spectrally overlapping (narrowband) wireless systems, mutual interference degrades the performance of both systems. In this paper we investigate two techniques for reducing this mutual interference which do not require modification of the narrowband system. We propose to shape the spectrum of the Transmitted Referenc...

A frequency domain multiple-antenna and channel estimation approach for facilitation of UWB technologies coexistence in heterogeneous WPANs

Ultra wideband (UWB) communications is a promising technology which provides high data rates for short-range communications. There are currently two proposals as UWB standards, namely, multiband orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (MB-OFDM) UWB and direct-sequence (DS) UWB. These two standards can cause interference on each other and also to other wireless technologies when they are loca...

Receiver Windowing Design for Narrowband Interference Mitigation in MB-OFDM UWB System

In 2005, the WiMedia Alliance working with the European Computer Manufacturers Association (ECMA) announced the establishment of the WiMedia MB-OFDM (Multiband Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) UWB radio platform as their global UWB standard. It was also chosen as the physical layer (PHY) of high data rate wireless specifications for high speed Wireless USB (W-USB), Bluetooth 3.0 and ...

Adaptive Mitigation of Multi-Narrowband Interferences in Impulse Radio UWB Systems Using A Spread Spectrum Sensing Technique

The coexistence among different systems is a fundamental issue in communications. Both coexistence analysis, i.e. measuring the mutual interference, as well as coexistence techniques, i.e. all the actions that guarantee the simultaneous use of the spectrum by different systems, have an impact on the performance of the system. This paper is focused on both these two aspects. In particular, we an...
